You don't have to feel guilty about leaving your pets when you go on vacation if you find the right pet boarder.  The Sonoma County company Paradise Pet Resort in Santa Rosa CA and Rohnert Park CA prides itself on being just such a place with large outdoor play areas for dogs, a flat boarding fee that covers all their needs, facilities for birds and small animals, and expert grooming services.

Paradise Pet Resort in Sonoma County: 9 Hours of Social Play to Make Your Dog Happy

Traditional kennels stick your beloved pet in a tiny crate or boring indoor run for their entire stay, with only short exercise breaks. But at Paradise Pet Resort, dogs are treated to nine hours of play each day in six spacious play areas designed for their safety and happiness. The play yards include artificial turf, natural grass, play structures, covered areas to provide shelter from sun and rain, and separate play areas for large and small dogs.

Owner Mike Campbell says there are a lot of misconceptions around social play for dogs. He explains, "Dogs are pack animals by nature, and they're hardwired to get along in a play group. Some clients don't think their dog is social because they've seen leash aggression, owner guarding or house-guarding behaviors. But most dogs do much better in this environment than their owners expect and have a great time while they're here."

Customers of Paradise Pet Resort are guaranteed to see this for themselves at any time with live webcams throughout the facility.  Mike tells us, "The webcams in our play yards let clients check in on their dog remotely at any time to see their wagging tail and that they're having fun. Because the webcam puts their minds at ease, they can truly relax and enjoy their time away more."

Michael Campbell gives new dogs an expert assessment when they arrive. He's a graduate of the Canine Behavior Academy and can quickly determine which dogs are a good fit for the group play. Mike's own dogs, Leah, a golden retriever, and Lewey, a Chihuahua/terrier mix, also help evaluate guest dogs that may be shy with other dogs.  Pets not suited for group play like older or unsocialized dogs still get one-on-one playtime with Paradise Pet Resort staff to keep them happy and active.

Paradise Pet Resort also welcomes cats, birds, small animals and even dogs that aren't able to play well with others. Cats each get a private cat cabana, and deluxe cabanas with floor-to-ceiling cat trees are also available. Paradise Pet Resort also has comfortable enclosures for small animals and birds of all sizes.

No Hidden Fees With Paradise Pet Resort in Sonoma County

Dogs and cats will be happiest when they're treated to the home-like comforts of their own food, get the scheduled medication they need to stay healthy, and ample play time. But many traditional kennels nickel and dime you by charging additional fees to use your food, administer medication and so-called extra services like walks and playtime.

At Paradise Pet Resort, all of this is included in their flat fee. Mike explains, "We do whatever keeps our guests happy, and it's important to us that they get to eat their own food so they don't have tummy troubles and that we provide all medications and extra things they need without our clients having to worry about racking up fees. We also add in a free bath for all dogs that stay  four nights or more."

At night, all dogs get their own private space, each in a run with a minimum of 36 square feet. And dogs from the same family are allowed to share sleeping quarters for comfort. All toys, bedding and belongings are kept in the suites, so pets feel at home when bedding down for the night. The floors have radiant heat, so dogs are warm on even the chilliest nights, and soothing classical music is piped throughout the building.

Other kennels charge you extra to pick up pets on evenings, weekends and holidays. Many are closed for pick-up or drop-off except for small windows of time each day, which can be a hassle for pet owners leaving on or returning from vacation. Unlike those kennels, Paradise Pet Resort lets you pick up and drop off anytime during from 6:30am to 7pm on weekdays and 7am to 7pm on weekends and holidays.

And your dog will probably be smelling fresher than when you dropped him or her off. Paradise Pet Resort offers full-service grooming for guest dogs and as a stand-alone service. The facility has two skilled groomers, both of whom give baths and cuts for dogs and cats.

Paradise Pet Resort: Genuine Caring For Animals In Our Community

Paradise Pet Resort has a foster program that give animals without homes more exposure to potential adopters. Mike Campbell says, "The city animal shelters are bursting at the seams, so we feel that taking in a few cats and dogs to help them find loving homes is the least we can do. We do it because we love animals."

Mike says they also plan to host a Sonoma County pet fair at their Rohnert Park CA location of Paradise Pet Resort, and they are a volunteer emergency pet shelter with the Red Cross in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency.

Michael Campbell has lived in Santa Rosa CA for 32 years. He's a life-long animal lover who likes to travel and hike, and dogs, Leah and Lewey go everywhere with him. Friends and family describe Mike as active, outgoing and kind. His clients describe him as caring and honest, and experienced in animal behavior. While the location of Paradise Pet Resort in Santa Rosa CA went by the former name of Camp Bow Wow, it was voted the #1 best pet boarding facility by readers of The Bohemian. The Rohnert Park location of Paradise Pet Resort more recently purchased from Boardwalk Pet Village.
